Original Plans

Originally, I had planned for this blog to be something of a political comment on the gay venue, but am finding that there are plenty of such blogs out there in cyberspace. So, it has slowly - slowly partly because of the lack of time and attention I give to it - turned into more or less a personal journal. While no one has seen it yet enough to make any comments, except for my friend Mitch, formerly of Oaxaca, Mexico and now of Houston, TX, after reading so many of the other politically bent blogs, maybe I am better off not trying t make a political statement here. In fact, most of my life has been involved, in one way or another, with political issues. Mostly, I have worked in the background. I have never sought the spotlight, so to speak.

I am trying to learn how to make this blog more interesting to the reader, but so far am not doing too well. I had someone I thought might teach me how to insert pictures and such into the blog, but since he found out that I am gay, I haven't heard from him since. And I never would have thought he would have a problem with gay people. Sometimes, I think people like that are closeted and don't even know it. Like a friend of mine said, "He's so far into the closet, he can't even find the door knob"

Personally, I am preparing for a visit from my niece and her husband from the east coast. They are a delightful couple and both extremely smart in their own fields. But when they come out to the high desert country, we just enjoy running around and seeing the sights. I performed their marriage ceremony a couple of of years ago and decided that would be my last wedding to perform. I have been requested to do another one since then, but turned down the honor.

They visited a year ago, but I was so disabled that I hardly sent any time with them at all - in fact, I only recall going out to lunch with them once in the week they were here. Thank goodness there is another cousin here who showed them around a lot. But this time, I am taking off from work all but one day while they are here and will be able to show them around and spend a lot of time with them. I am so looking forward to their visit
